Creede is very excited about the new addition to the community. Here are some testimonials from the town.

R. Scott Lamb
District 1
Mineral County Commissioner
I have been excited about the prospects of this project from the moment a few months ago that I was made party to the initial concept paper and some very preliminary design drawings. One of the duties of my office is participation in, or initiation of, economic development concepts. The construction of the proposed Center for the Arts fits hand in glove with our efforts to promote Creede as a nationally recognized cultural center.
When the silver mines here stopped production in 1985 we were faced with a do or die situation economically. It was then that community leaders began to focus on tourism as our sole remaining “industry”. Central to that effort were the art galleries that opened in the ensuing years. And the cornerstone of this burgeoning art community was then the Quiller Gallery which had been in operation on Main Street since 1971.
And now, 50 years later, this Center For The Arts is being proposed to take the arts community, indeed the community at large, to a new level. As a County Commissioner I have been involved in the Creede City Trustees’ discussions around what the highest and best use of this fairly recently acquired parcel of real estate would be. I applaud their decision to join with Mr. Quiller in his vision of the Center For The Arts being located there, in the very heart of Creede.

Creede & Mineral County Visitor Center and Chamber of Commerce
The Creede and Mineral County Chamber of Commerce is in full support of the Creede Center for the Arts. The Chamber and Visitor Center sees thousands of tourists every year, the primary motivations for coming to this area are for history, outdoor recreation, and the arts. The Center will assist in solidifying Creede as an arts destination, inviting newcomers to the area while providing cultural arts enhancement to the local community. The Center will offer a boost to our town’s economy and year-round tourism. We look forward to seeing the Creede Center for the Arts completed.

City of Creede Trustee
Local Resident
As a local resident and City of Creede Trustee, it is my pleasure to be in support of the Creede Center for the Arts. The Center will help guide Creede into even more of a cultural haven. Creede is well-known for being an artistic home. From our nationally recognized Creede Repertory Theatre, Creede Arts Council, Creede Musical Arts Collaborative, numerous art galleries, and art events– it is a hidden gem. The addition of the Arts Center will offer much to our visitors as well as our local community. The Center and City of Creede are working together to secure a site in town, it will be a wonderful addition right in the heart of Creede. I look forward to witnessing a boost in our year-round economy as well as having another economic development driver in Creede.
