Creede Center For the Arts

- Stephen Quiller and International Water Media Collections

The Center will be a hub for a multitude of art-related activities. We will establish a gallery for a retrospective of Quiller works, many of which are award-winning paintings from international shows. There will also be an exhibition of the works of master painters from throughout the world. It will be the first International Water-Media Museum in the United States creating a very unique center of attraction for Creede.

We will have a workshop space where people can study with professional artists of different mediums – another year-round boost to the economy of Creede. Adjacent will be an educational space for youth where they can come and learn two- and three-dimensional art.

We will have an archive center as well as an art library, including an extensive collection of Southwest books and materials. There will also be a digital interactive room where both young and not so young can learn about the arts, as well as Creede and regional history.

There will be outdoor landscaping and a sculpture garden for the enjoyment of anyone passing by.

In the future we will establish studios and residences for visiting artists, further enhancing the center’s impact on the town’s economic development.

The center will be a place for a variety of community events, or taking in a beautiful concert. There will be a space large enough for a dinner, listening to a lecture, or watching a film. The center is intended not only is an attraction for visitors, but for our local Creede Community.

Creede has already established itself as a destination not only for its natural beauty but also for visitors interested in mining, geology, history, theater, and the arts. The center will be an evolving and developing venture for years to come. The Creede Center for the Arts - Stephen Quiller and International Water Media Collections will celebrate it all and be a home for anyone who loves Creede.
